On May 5 and 6, 2020, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) hosted an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on “Human Rights and Social Inclusion.” Our Executive Director, Yosuke Nagai, was invited and participated in this event.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting, originally scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, was conducted online. During the meeting, Mr. Nagai shared a case study on our organization’s approach to former Al-Shabaab combatants and detainees in Somalia.

Over the course of three similar expert meetings, the mid-term strategy of the UN-Habitat for the period 2020–2023 will be reviewed.
