Accept International took part as an expert/practitioner from Japan in the “8th Dialogue on Countering Violent Extremism in the Middle East,” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
This meeting is an important forum where governmental bodies, international organizations, research institutions, etc., come together to exchange views and strengthen cooperation toward comprehensive measures against violent extremism. It serves as a venue to recognize the importance of countermeasures, and to share and examine effective responses.
As an organization with practical experience and expertise in prevention of violent extremism, support for deradicalization, and counter-terrorism, we have been participating in this meeting continuously over the past several years.
In discussions with invited experts from Middle Eastern countries, we emphasized the importance of mutual understanding. In particular, we deepened dialogue about the significance of going beyond conventional views that regard others simply as threats, and instead paying attention to their unique potential. We received positive reactions, and it was a meaningful time.
Going forward, Accept International will continue working toward solutions to violent extremism in collaboration with government and the international community.
