In accordance with the UN Charter, it not only consults with Member States but also engages with relevant NGOs on matters within its mandate.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nThe Special Consultative Status<\/strong> is granted to NGOs with particular expertise in specific fields of activity. After a review process by the ECOSOC Committee on NGOs, composed of 19 Member States, organizations that obtain this status are able to participate in UN conferences and intergovernmental meetings.
