Adoption of the Tokyo Declaration and Action Plan towards Peace in Palestine<\/div>\r\n

\r\nFrom August 5 to 10, we invited 14 young leaders from major Palestinian political parties, organizations, and civil society to Hiroshima and Tokyo, which this year marks 80 years since the end of World War II, and convened the \u201cDialogue Meeting of Cross-Party Young Leaders for Peace in Palestine.\u201d<\/b>\r\n
\r\n
\r\nIn Hiroshima, the participants visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and had a discussion with a third-generation atomic bomb survivor. In Tokyo, they held discussions with members of the business sector and Middle East experts. Following these exchanges and further deliberations, the \u201cTokyo Declaration\u201d was adopted on August 9, and a concrete \u201cAction Plan\u201d was endorsed on August 17. \r\n

\r\nThe declaration outlines specific pathways toward peace, including responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, upholding the rule of law, calling upon the international community, promoting elections and democratization, reforming the Palestinian political structure to recognize the PLO as the sole legitimate representative body while incorporating diverse political factions, ensuring the participation of youth and women in policymaking, and learning from Japan\u2019s experiences.\r\n

\r\nAmid the tense circumstances of the ongoing attacks in Gaza, it carries great significance that representatives from diverse Palestinian sectors gathered together and jointly articulated, as young Palestinians, what must be done in response to the current situation. \r\n
